Nields Crossing Friday at the Kosher K
by Elizabeth (10/21/2001)
to the tune of "Friday at the Circle K"

Elizabeth wrote: Ok, here's my first ever attempt at nields parody...not very good, i'm afraid, but the best I could do. Inspired by going to the kosher kitchen at smith every friday (which has pictures of tn on the walls, btw, and the student cooks listen to LFN while they're preparing the food sometimes), which everyone calls the "kosher k".
oh yeah, she's coming down the road
with her dad's tallit draped over her shoulder
she takes that way-religious pose,
and says you can have Manichewitz when you are older
but that's not we want anyway
we came out to hear her pray
our own private minyan
friday at the kosher k.

we gather every week
to see our own spiritual leader,
though she can't really chant on key
who cares? there's prayer in the street,
and she stares at the heavens
but i hope that she thinks of me
now, she's looking my way
and i can't think of one thing to say
lalalalala friday at the kosher k

and when she serves me, it's tasty down to the core
but if she saw me try to pray, she'd know what i am here for
it'd go like this, she'd take me to her shul
to B'nai Shalom or Young Israel
she'd show me everything she knows
and she will be a Rabbi, and i will be a Rabbi too
and she will chant and pray every day
and i will chant and pray every day
and we'll say what a long way we've come from friday at the kosher k
