(Red River of the North - not the one in Texas that the old song is about!) Much like the Nile, the Red is strange because it flows north. Which is a huge pain in the spring, when snow and ice melt, and try to flow to where everything is still frozen. Anyway, I was out at a friend's house for about 3 hours yesterday evening, and it prompted this:
I don't feel much like swimming
You splash some water at my feet
We wade through the mud on a chilly spring night
We see the piles of dirt and the bags piled nearby
Chorus
Not too much, that's the way, fill them just about half-way
Hold the bag while I scoop, there's a river where the yard should be
We've got sandbags, stack 'em while there's still some land
We've got sandbags, if they can't help us, then what can?
Stack them in a line
A ring around the house, that's fine
Dry will be easy when the river's gone down
I dream of high ground, that's where I belong
Chorus
I didn't think we had so much snow
But it's melted, I see the ice floes
If it rains we'll have a different scene
Water over everything
Chorus
